“How dare Arizona try to take away that job we’re not doing?”
In a nutshell and on the surface, this is what’s going on. Beneath the surface there is much more. Today starts the Federal government‘s challenge to Arizona’s immigration law which is just like the federal law, except AZ defined the parameters much more stringently whereby illegals can be questioned. I do think this is very much a political move by the Obama administration as well as an unbelievable waste of taxpayer funds in a time of dire economic straits. But spend, spend, spend we will. Nero fiddled while Rome burned. Or something like that.
If there was ever a reason to vote against the confirmation of Elena Kagan for the highest court in our land, this is it. Apparently Miss Kagan has no problem with establishing a second system of financial laws (outside of our own) to accomodate the Muslim community. She was involved as dean of Harvard in the Islamic Finance Project.
“Kagan, as a Supreme Court justice, will be required to rule frequently on possible applications of Shariah law in the United States. She has already noted that she welcomes “good ideas wherever they originate” and is open to applications of foreign law to the interpretation of U.S. statutes and common law.”
This is unacceptable.
Read the whole post by Dick Morris here.
The complete statement is “You know when Castro took power, none of us knew he was a Communist.”
This statement was made by a young Cuban refugee who migrated here in the 1960’s. His story is here in this article: Castro, Obama, and the Rule of Law.
It’s very eye opening. And very relative to the times we live in.
Well, this certainly needs to be checked out. Has it been edited, audited, or spliced? You be the judge. Where did this video come from?
UPDATE: Ok, turns out this is from a site called ObamaSnippets.com which has humorous videos of the president. Go check out other funnies. Of course, those of us who question his natural born citizenship status CAN actually hear him saying what he said in this one. And don’t forget, Michelle called Kenya his home country in one of her speeches, but if you want reference, I’ll have to track it down.
Whoops…here it is:
As the nation prepares to celebrate Independence Day with parades and barbecues, America’s veterans face a new tax on prosthetic limbs and other vital medical devices.
The health care overhaul passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama earlier this year contains a new tax on medical devices such as prosthetic limbs, pacemakers, and wheelchairs. This tax, which its proponents claim will raise $20 billion over the next ten years, contains no exemption for the nation’s 22 million veterans. In fact, Senate Democrats specifically refused to exempt veterans from the tax.
On March 24 2010, Senate Democrats rejected an amendment offered by Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) to the healthcare bill. This amendment (SA 3644) would have prevented the medical device tax from hitting veterans covered by the Veterans Healthcare Program or TRICARE for Life. This amendment was rejected by a vote of 44-54. All but five Democrat senators voted in favor of retaining the tax for veterans.
Now I’m really hacked off.
Interesting statement by David G. Savage of the Los Angeles Times:
“Obama chose Kagan for the court believing she could bridge the gap with some of its conservatives. Her mission is to help uphold the laws that Obama and Democrats are pushing through Congress.” (emphasis mine)
Hmmm….I thought the “mission” or purpose, if you will, of a Supreme Court Justice was to see that the law is fairly and evenly applied for all.

My friend over at the Conservative Pup has a great post. In it she uses this photo…I had to borrow it. Go here to read her most excellent commentary.
