According to Life Site News, President Bush is pushing forward with regulations that will protect doctors and nurses from being forced to perform abortions against their conscience.
“The regulations will enforce existing federal law that requires taxpayer-funded medical institutions not to discriminate against medical personnel who conscientiously object to performing abortions or assisting “in the performance of any part of a health service program or research activity,” including the distribution of abortifacient contraceptives.” —Kathleen Gilbert, November 25, 2008
Abortion rights advocates continue to wage war against the regulations, saying they are a threat to a women’s right to abortion and will succeed in lowering the number of abortions. “Senators Hillary Clinton and Patty Murray (note the names well) introduced legislation Thursday to halt the regulations, accusing President Bush of “again putting ideology first” in a “last-minute attempt to undermine women’s health care.” What???? Just because you are a doctor or nurse, now you HAVE to do this? YOU get NO CHOICE? That’s not fair. You are now undermining women’s health care (so they say). We’ll just put a gun to your head and MAKE you do this! Where’s the respect?
It is reported that some doctors have complained of discrimination because they refused to perform procedures that went against their conscience. Thanks, Hilary, for being such a good advocate of this. We knew we could count on you.
You know, when I go to a store to get a particular item that I am in dire need of…and it may affect my health too…If they don’t have the item, I don’t force them to go get it for me…I GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND BUY IT (yes, I’m shouting). Why can’t these people do the same? If you can’t get the product you want, go somewhere else. How hard is that? But no, WE’D rather force people to do what WE want. They want CHOICE for them (and that comes with the opportunity to browbeat you into submission), but not for others. They want to take away your freedom of CHOICE. They get to choose, but you don’t. Will the madness ever end?
“It’s unconscionable that the Bush administration, while promising a smooth transition, would take a final opportunity to politicize women’s health,” said Planned Parenthood Federation of America President Cecile Richards.”
Oh, good grief, grow up and get over yourself… I can’t help it today… this is stunning.
Please notice my new quote in the sidebar. I lifted that from The Conservative Pup’s blog. I felt it was very appropriate to the times we live in. And especially after reading this news item.
